A. Calories in Filipino food
             The writer started his main idea by stating the season, and it's on Christmas. Naturally on Christmas, people eat lots of food so therefore, that would mean that we'd intake lots of calories, too. He/she described what calorie is and specifically stated how to compute on ones total calorie requirement is and even gave an example. The writer also stated the calories you get from eating the kinds of food he/she identified.

B. Indian Food
             The writer first gave a quick overview of the Indian food and next, introduced to the reader the different varieties of Indian food--North, West, South and East. One by one he/she stated the specific names of the food,  described their taste, stated how it is prepared so the reader, though nor familiar with the food the writer is narrating, ca identify or even sketch out the details in his/her mind because of the very specific description the writer wrote.

Nostalgia for Kerala (and its food) by Pete Cherches (for comm 1 tf 10:30-12) [assignment]

1. There are beautiful beaches and backwaters, places of great historical interest, reflecting the region's varied colonial past, and an overall sense of contentment and well-being among the people.
2. As Cochin is a coastal city, seafood is bountiful, and the Sealord does it up well.
3. The ride was delightful, though a bit claustrophobic.
4. It was a lovely, idyllic place, and I felt a bit like Gauguin arriving in Tahiti.
5. So we went back and met Rafael, a delightful old guy who proudly showed us the little chapel of St. Mary

Turn out the lite...by Anderson Digby (for comm 1 tf 10:30-12) [assignment]

1. There is a word that usefully captures this trend to the insipid and denatured, and it is "Lite."
2. Lite is insipid, weak, denatured, flat, diluted, and easy: food for cowards and children.
3. He is ignorant, timid, squeamish, and childish.
4.  Our morality is Lite, childish, and diluted.
5. Our religion is insipid and undemanding.
6. The entertainment industry is fluffy and flimsy.
